Do I need to be an atheist to join?
No! Our community is a home for anyone and everyone who has a passion for patient care and outcomes based on evidence-based medicine.
Why should I join?
We believe that patient outcomes should not be decided by religious values at the policy level. We seek to use any financial gifts/resources to fund advocacy for humanist values, such as campaigning against the religious zealotry influencing medical policy in the USA. Furthermore, we believe the next generation of physicians will face unprecedented challenges. Our goal is to help alleviate the burden of these students through financial scholarships. Why call it an atheist organization?
Because an organization founded on humanist values is intrinsically atheist.
What do you hope to achieve?
We have several goals:
Defend patients against harmful religious ideas at the policy level
Advocate for secular values across multiple arenas of the medical field
Facilitate a space for discussion of medical ethics
Provide fellowship and membership for medical professionals and trainees.
Offer scholarships for students in need.
How can I apply for a scholarship?
We aim to have scholarship applications open in Fall 2025. More details will be provided closer to the date.
How can I contribute or donate to the organization?
Future Donations can be made on the ‘Donate’ tab on our website. All donations are going to a non-profit 501c3. Fall 2025.
Are there any membership fees?
Membership dues are currently waived for all. In the future this is subject to change.
How can I get involved in advocacy work?
Our current goal is to provide a humanist perspective to advocate for our patients and amplify evidence-based patient care.
What resources do you provide for members?
Our content is open source. We aim to provide resources that will help our members in their professional journey.
How can I become a member?
Those wanting to join need to send an email at ‘Contact us’ with the subject ‘Membership’, along with an attached copy of their CV and a brief statement of why they would like to join.
What is the process after I apply for membership?
Our team will review your application.
Can I cancel my membership? If so, how?
Yes, you are free to cancel at any time by sending us an email. Please note that your membership dues are non-refundable and your membership will end at the time of the next billing.
How often does the organization meet? Are there any upcoming events?
We are in the the process of planning our first annual online conference in Fall of 2025 and are now accepting abstracts with a focus on medical ethics. If interested, please send an email to our contact us tab with the heading “ASAP Abstract”
